The hippo was dressed up half Scottish and half African. He brought lots of books with him. The children read lots of stories and watched a documentary all about hippos. They then wrote their own books, some were fiction and some were non fiction.

Primary 4/5 know lots about hippos now!

The Big Stampede in primary 2

The Big Stampede

Primary 2 enjoyed a ‘Hippo’ themed day. They learned some hippo facts and summarised a hippo story.

Everyone enjoyed singing the song, ‘I wish I was a hippopotamus,’ and then they finished the day by making a ‘hungry hippo’ filled with fascinating facts!

It was a fun-filled day!

Primary 1 were so surprised to have a special visitor in our class! The David Livingstone Hippo enjoyed helping us to learn about African animals in French like l’hippopotame! We also read the story ‘Hippo Wears a Hat’ and designed a brand new hat for the hippo. We ended the day by learning a song all about hippos and we sang it to our special visitor. We hope the hippo enjoyed his/her day in Primary 1!
